Kim Eun-Joo

Abstract
Parkinson¡¯s disease (PD) is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease with a wide variety of problems. To describe this complex functioning, the classification system of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF classification) can be used. The present review focuses on the functioning the PD according to the ICF model. The majority of published papers show not only the applicability the ICF to describe PD functioning with ICF checklist or ICF core set, but also provide reliable functioning and disability summary with ICF based assessment tools such as World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS II) or Functioning Disability Evaluation Scale-Adult Version (FUNDES-Adult). ICF based information on functioning in PD will make it possible for clinicians to enhance assessment for the patients with PD and in turn to enable to plan strategies that aim to improve the quality of life in patients with PD.
